- Initial purchase price
- Freight and import duties (especially if sourcing from Sweco’s global offices — Sweden, Germany, Poland, Vietnam, etc.)
- Installation and commissioning fees
- Recommended spare parts inventory for 2 years
- Extended warranty or service contract options
In 2023, I compared quotes for a Sweco LS24S1000 separator. Vendor A quoted $34,000. Vendor B quoted $28,500. But Vendor B’s quote excluded freight ($2,100) and commissioning ($1,800). After adding those, Vendor A was actually 5% cheaper — and included a spare screen kit.
Step 3: Check the Service Network Availability
A machine sitting idle while you wait for a technician costs you production revenue. Sweco has global service centers, but not every region has the same response time. This step separates amateurs from pros. Anyone can show you a brochure. But real-world performance data from a site similar to yours — same material, same throughput, same environment — is gold. Template request: “Could you put me in touch with a company that’s using this model for [your application] and has been running it for at least 12 months?” If they hesitate, red flag.
Common Pitfalls to Avoid

- Focusing only on the purchase price. The machine that costs $2,000 less today might cost $8,000 more over 5 years in maintenance and energy.
